NEW YORK – A CITY AT SLEEP

I wanted to see New York since a long time. In December 2019 I finally flew there: Gotham City, New York, New York, The Big Apple, the city that never sleeps. What I discovered through the viewfinder and later – while reviewing the photographs – was actually an empty and somhow repellent place out of steel, cement, tar and glass. All people seemed to be evaporated, pushing to light from the underground furnace as steam here and there. I was totally surprised, expected a vibrant and living metropolitan. It was fascinating and frightening at the same time and the very few people in the streets scared me even more – all with faces down to their devices and coffee cups in the cold hands. They cleared the scenes showing the shapes of a man-made and man-left place.
