The work was created over a period of 14 years between 2008 and 2022. It mainly shows well-known and intensively developed regions on the Mediterranean, such as the Costa Brava, Liguria, the Cretan and the Libyan Sea.

The photographs oscillate between the beauty of these places and the deep human desire for being at the sea on the one hand, and the actual encounter with the reality of these places on the other: crowded beaches where peace and solitude are searched in vain, geometrically demarcated spots in the sand under hundreds of identical umbrellas and also the absurdity that we perceive with our behavior or through the objects we bring with us.

Thus, the photographs also show the contrast of life itself, which largely corresponds to the difference between expectation and reality. It is the tragedy by the sea, from sunrise to sunset and everything that happens in between.
